A1c- hemoglobin A1c which is the average blood sugar in the past 3 months. Goal is less than 7%.

B- Blood pressure. For people with diabetes, the goal is less than 130/80 which should be checked at each visit with your PCP.

C- Cholesterol. There are two types of cholesterol:

HDL- high density lipoprotein also known as the "good" cholesterol. HDL helps to remove the "bad"

cholesterol from your blood vessels. Target level is greater than 40 mg/dL

LDL- low density lipoprotein also known as the "bad" cholesterol. LDL can build up and clog your

blood vessels. Goal is less than 100 mg/dL.

Your primary care physician will guide you on your individualized target levels for A1c, blood pressure, and cholesterol. Have you had your ABCs checked recently?
